Mary Floyd Spring's Platform for Florence County Council

When elected to the Florence County Council - District 4 seat, Mary Floyd Spring will focus her attention on the following:

1. Ensuring that all economic growth opportunities for Florence County with respect to District 4 are investigated thoroughly.
2. Ensuring that discretionary funds are appropriated for well thought out projects and not just items that are added to the Florence County Council agenda at the last minute.
3. Ensuring discretionary funds are used in an appropriate manner - especially during election time.
4. Ensuring that all business of the county is readily available to the public and not conducted in secrecy.
5. Ensuring that county tax dollars are spent wisely.
6. Ensuring that county law enforcement has the necessary resources to protect the person and property of county citizens.
7. Ensuring that District 4 residents get their fair share of community funds for roads and improvement projects.

Having been a resident of Florence County Council District 4 most of her life, Mary's goal has been to contribute positively to the progress and improvement of District 4.

Previously, confidence has been demonstrated in her abilities by the voters by electing her to serve on the Timmonsville Town Council and two terms on the Florence County School District 4 Board of Trustees. As well, Mary was appointed by three consecutive Governors to serve on the Florence County DSS Advisory Board. It has been her great honor and privilege to serve the community in these offices.

It is with great humility that she asks for your vote and support as she seeks the office of Florence County Council Representative for District 4.

Her concerns for Florence County focus on the issues of transparency and accountability in funding including determining the proper dispensation of individual “discretionary” funds, promoting economic growth in all areas of the county, accessibility for constituents, enhancing recreational opportunities in our district, and providing our county law enforcement with the necessary resources to ensure the safety of our person and property.

In these most difficult economic times, it is imperative that our hard earned tax dollars are spent wisely and fairly.
